The screen was there, and it showed an empty podium. Even the people in the world of television were quiet. Then two men walked out. I was not hugely into politics and I was not up-to-date on any of the faces. However, I knew one of the men. It was the President of the United States of America. Both men walked to the podium. The unknown (to me) man stood to the left, and the President got onto the podium. He coughed.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the world. Yesterday and today have been historic days. Within the last thirty-six hours, we have made contact with, and spoken to, people from the stars. We have been visited by a people far more advanced than we are. People who have come to us in peace. I am deeply honored that it has been with our great nation, that these people have chosen to make this momentous first contact. I feel extremely privileged to be in office at this historic time.

"Yesterday morning, at approximately six thirty a.m. Eastern Standard Time, a message was received by radio communication. This message was simple
and traditional - it was 'Greetings, we come in peace.' Obviously, this needed to be verified before we jumped to any conclusions.

"We sent a radio communication back and a communication dialogue was established. In time, a full transcript of this dialogue will be published for all to see. I can confirm that this dialogue with these alien creatures is one hundred percent genuine and that these people are not of this Earth.

"I know that you, people of the world, must be asking many questions. Every one of you will have a host of questions to ask and I will attempt to answer some of them now."
